Tipperary star David Young swings game for Kildare
Kildare 0-24 Meath 0-14
KILDARE made a flying start to their NHL campaign against a disappointing Meath at Trim yesterday.
They dominated proceedings and were no way flattered by their ten-point winning margin. The Lilywhites had built up a 0-13 to 0-6 advantage by half-time.
Recent acquisition from Tipperary, David Young, impressed for Kildare and the Toomevara clubman hit two fine long range points in the opening half.
Corner-forward Marc Delaney contributed four points, including two 65s before retiring at half-time. In his absence, Paul Divilly took over the free-taking responsibility with equal success. Kildare would have won by more but for the heroics of young Meath keeper Charlie Bird who made excellent saves to deny Gerry Keegan and Evan Dempsey.
