A 27-year-old who bought the Hayes Hotel plans to refurbish the building back to its former glory.

Tipperary native Jack Halley, who hails from Fethard,  bought the birthplace of the GAA hotel at the Allsop Space Auction yesterday for €650,000. He paid €150k above the reserve price.

Mr Halley revealed that he has been living in London for the last number of years and has been working in the hospitality sector.

He also told Tipp FM he plans to bring the "building back to its former glory".
