Deise star Patrick Curran hits 12 points as DCU advance to the Fitzgibbon quarter-finals
Trinity 1-14 DCU 0-19
WATERFORD star Patrick Curran scored 12 points as DCU progressed to the knockout stages of the Independent.ie Fitzgibbon Cup.
Trinity College, who lost Cian O'Dulaing to injury at the throw-in, produced their best performance of the campaign but DCU did enough to set up an historic quarter-final clash with UCC at the Mardyke next week.
WIT are the big casualties from Group C but all DCU could do was win their final group game – and ideally with plenty to spare.
It didn’t quite work out like that as Trinity were level six times before DCU finally managed to shake them off.
At half-time, the sides were tied at 0-9 each and while DCU eventually kicked for home, they were left sweating on the result at the death when Eoin Kelly netted a late goal for Trinity. Curran was the difference, with ten of his points from placed balls.
