14-man Garda College produce late surge to beat IT Sligo

Fourteen-man Garda College hit 1-4 in the last eight minutes to see off the challenge of IT Sligo in the Sigerson Cup at Templemore.

Garda led 0-7 to 0-6 after a lively first half and were 0-8 to 0-7 ahead six minutes into the second half when they lost Paul Mannion to a second yellow card.

Sligo struck a crucial blow on 50 minutes Johnny Brennan netted a penalty for a 1-9 to 0-11 lead. However, the Gardaí had points from Jonathan Ryan and Declan Meehan (2) to surge ahead. Ronan Carolan got a clinching goal near the end.
