Wicklow 4-20 Armagh1-12
Wicklow welcomed an understrength Armagh team and sent them home again to mull over a convincing defeat.
The home defence was especially good in the first half against a strong wind and Warren Kavanagh punctuated his excellent display with two second-half points. Even when Wicklow's defence was breached and they conceded penalties in each half, Robert Fitzgerald was on hand to make spectacular saves.
Wicklow had a dream start when Andy O'Brien won and converted a penalty after five minutes and while Armagh were competitive, Wicklow were always in control.
The visitors got within a point on the half-hour mark following Dylan McKenna's goal but Wicklow hit another 1-2 before the end of the half and led by 3-8 to 1-9 at half-time.
Armagh could only score three points in the second half while Wicklow used the wind to send out a statement of intent for league honours.
