David Burke delivered a victory speech for the ages following Galway’s victory over Waterford in the All Ireland final at Croke Park.

Burke spoke passionately as he remembered Tony Keady who passed away a few weeks ago and saved a special and emotional tribute for former team-mate Niall Donohue who died in 2014.

Joe Canning looked to the sky above and looked visibly emotional as Burke said: "One other person that I can’t let today pass without mentioning..he was soldiering with us for years, a good friend of mine and first cousin of Conor Whelan. He passed away in 2014, Niall Donoghue. We’ll never forget him.

"We will give a small shout out to Pieta House and people who do so much work with people with depression. Hopefull they help many."

Canning stood beside Tony Keady's wife Margaret and held back the tears as he watched Burke on the podium.

"To Tony’s wife Margaret, children Shannon, Anthony, Jake and Harry, we hope that lifting the cup today will give you some solice from your grief if only for a few seconds."
