Wallace leads Mogue's into final
St Mogue's 0-18 Sylane 0-9
St Mogue's cruised into the final with an emphatic defeat of a disappointing Sylane at a rain-soaked Parnell Park.
The Fethard club dominated from start to finish, with only some errant shooting in the second half keeping the tie relatively competitive up until the three-quarter mark.
However, they still managed to register 18 scores in terribly sticky conditions with centre-forward Mark Wallace leading the way with 11 points.
It was further down the field that their dominance was most pronounced, with their half-back line of Richard Waters, Kevin Rowe and the exceptional Joe Sutton hugely influential.
There were few complaints from Sylane at the final whistle as their attack failed to sparkle.
There were some isolated moments of encouragement from Oran Martin but those incidents proved far too irregular to unduly trouble the Leinster champions.
Despite opening the scoring through Alan Cullinane, Sylane found themselves in arrears as Wallace struck three frees in quick succession, and St Mogue's built up a healthy 0-9 to 0-5 interval advantage thanks to late points by corner-forwards Ciaran Dwyer and Michael Dwyer. The second half resumed in a similar vein of St Mogue's supremacy with Wallace taking the game away from Sylane. And although Martin offered some threat when moved to full-forward, the dismissal of Shane Glynn in the 54th minute ended any hopes of a comeback.
