All-Ireland winning defender Kevin Martin is the new manager of the Offaly hurlers.

Martin was wing-back on the Faithful teams that lifted Liam MacCarthy in 1994 and '98.

His Tullamore clubmate Damian Fox has been appointed as the coach with Aidan Hanrahan coming on board as selector.

He previously managed Tullamore to a county title in 2009 after a 46-year wait and led Westmeath to Christy Ring Cup success in the following year.

More recently, he won a Laois county title with Clough-Ballacolla in 2015.

He takes over from Kevin Ryan who stood down after one year in charge.

Offaly won just one league game in 2017 and exited the championship after defeats to eventual All-Ireland finallists Galway and Waterford.
