Louth picked up their first Kehoe Cup win of the season thanks to a strong first-half performance where they took advantage of a strong wind to open up a 3-9 to 0-4 lead.

Michael Ryan and Ronan Geoghegan scored 3-5 of that total between them, with the former scoring two goals against a DCU defence struggling to cope with the conditions.

The second half saw DCU come back into the game with the duo of Dean Whelan and Diarmuid Fenlon driving their team forward as they scored six points without reply in a dominant ten-minute spell.

Jamie Byrne's goal with seven minutes remaining reduced the gap to two goals to give the students some hope, but Louth managed to see it out for victory thanks to a couple of late scores from Mark Molloy.
