Peter Duggan masterclass lifts Clare over Galway in Fenway Classic final
CLARE 50 GALWAY 33
PETER Duggan scored 27 points as Clare beat Galway in today’s AIG Fenway Classic final in Boston.
Clare exploded into a 20 to three lead midway through the first half, with Duggan following up his 25 points in the semi-final with another masterful display of goal-scoring.
By half-time, the Banner led by 30 points to nine but Conor Cooney and Jason Flynn both hit spectacular goals in the second half to drag Micheál Donoghue’s team back to within nine points.
Clare finished strongly, though.
Two three-point goals from Cathal O’Connell stretched their lead but fittingly, Duggan had the final say with a pair of late strikes.
