Clare maintained their unbeaten start to the 2020 League and comprehensively booked their place in the last four with a nine-point defeat of Dublin in Ennis this afternoon.

The midfield pairing of Tony Kelly (0-12) and David McInerney (0-4) combined to rack up 0-16 between them as Brian Lohan's side produced a powerful second-half display to stroll home easy winners.

Dublin were two points ahead inside four minutes, 0-3 to 0-1, with a trio of Donal Burke points (two from frees) but the hosts totally took over for the rest of the opening quarter firing eight points in succession.

McInerney was lording it in the middle of the mark and sent over a hat-trick of points in the opening half while Domhnall McMahon also impressed with a brace to leave them in control, 0-9 to 0-3 after 22 minutes.

Burke was off colour from placed balls but he was in fine form from open play with three first-half points and he kept them in touch along with two fine efforts from half-back Paul Crummey.

It was Eamonn Dillon's introduction in the 26th minute that helped to turn the tide though and the Naomh Fionnbara forward fired the all-important goal in the 34th minute to see the sides go in level at the break, 0-11 to 1-8.

It looked like a tight second half was in store but the Banner hit ten of the next 12 points to run out comfortable winners and ensure that Mattie Kenny's Dubs won't play another competitive game until early May.
