O'Reilly leads Derry bombardment of Armagh

Derry will face Antrim in the Ulster minor hurling final after the Oak Leafers comfortably brushed aside the weak challenge of Armagh at Owenbeg.

There were 20 points to separate the sides at the end and it was only wastefulness of the Derry attack that prevented the gap from being even wider.

Derry scored 20 times but missed a further 22 scoreable chances, between dropping shots into the hand of Conleth Lavery and hitting 14 wides.

Ciaran Steele had conjured a couple of goal chances but saw his first effort brilliantly saved and flashed his second wide.

On the third, there was no such luck for Armagh as he burst through strongly to bat home one-handed.

Armagh did have a penalty but Jordan Murtagh's effort flew over the crossbar of Conor Owens as the visitors went in 1-9 to 0-4 behind at the break.

Within seconds of the restart, Derry had another goal when Ciaran Steele charged down Lavery's clearance and the ball rebounded into the net.

Corey O'Reilly burst through and fired a brilliant low finish to make it 3-10 to 0-4 before Armagh responded with an equally good finish by sub Pauric McNaughton securing a consolation goal.

Derry capped it off in style with a stunning goal from Odhran McKeever into the top corner from 20 yards.
