O'Neill holds nerve for Limerick draw
Munster MHC: Waterford 0-11 Limerick 0-11
A 65th-minute free from Cathal O'Neill, his seventh point of the afternoon, earned Limerick a share of the spoils with Waterford in a low-scoring curtain-raiser at Walsh Park.
That late, late score knocked Waterford out of the provincial race, as Limerick's second draw of the campaign keeps them in contention.
Déise sub Mikey Cummins snuck the hosts ahead on 63 minutes, but Limerick wing-back Colin Coughlan was fouled off the next play and O'Neill held his nerve from 60 metres with the last puck of the game.
Waterford manager Darragh Duggan was also banished to the stand by referee Kevin Jordan in a dramatic finish.
Limerick benefited from a stiff breeze in the first-half and established a 0-7 to 0-5 half-time advantage.
A Reuben Halloran double sent the home team in front for the first time (0-10 to 0-9), before O'Neill tied the game again entering stoppages.
