Carlow produced a dominant second-half display to blow London away in Ruislip, and leapfrog Meath into second spot.

Needing to win by 12 points to capitalise on the Royal County's one-point defeat to Westmeath, Colm Bonnar's charges found London in unobliging mood in the first half.

The Barrowsiders were wasteful as they failed to build on Martin Kavanagh's 19th-minute goal, Diarmuid Byrne picking out Kavanagh in acres of space to fire past Padraig Buckley.

The home side battled back to trail by just 1-9 to 0-9 at the break.

A disputed John Michael Nolan point opened the floodgates - the visitors rattled off six unanswered scores in an eight-minute period.

London's Colin Nelson picked up a straight red card in the 55th minute. Carlow took advantage with James Doyle and Chris Nolan both finding the net to leave the Exiles bottom of the table.
