No further action will be taken following the tunnel flare-up involving Clare manager Davy Fitzgerald after the drawn qualifier between Clare and Wexford in Ennis on Saturday.

Following the gripping encounter in Cusack Park, the Clare manager was involved in a heated exchange with a member of the local press.

Clare Champion reporter Peter O’Connell was in the tunnel after interviewing Wexford manager Liam Dunne and Clare star Conor Ryan following the conclusion of the qualifier when he became embroiled in a verbal altercation with the Clare manager.

An irate Fitzgerald was seen remonstrating outside the Clare dressing room with O’Connell before Pat Fitzgerald, Davy’s father and long serving Clare County Board secretary, stepped in to diffuse the situation.

It is understood that Fitzgerald was unhappy with media coverage of his team from the newspaper, and the journalist in question.

Independent.ie has learned that no further action will be taken by either party following the incident as Clare will now focus on regrouping ahead of this weekend's replay.
