Minding the gap is normally something you associate with hearing while boarding a train, but it also has plenty of relevance heading into next weekend’s mouth-watering All-Ireland semi-finals.

I don’t know what it was in Waterford during my own playing days but we just weren’t able to negotiate that five- or six-week gap – one which was way too long and punished the winners – from claiming Munster honours to the last four.
