Derry produced their best hurling display in some time in defeating league strugglers Roscommon by 13 points at Celtic Park.
Goals from Aaron Kelly, Oisin McCloskey and Darragh Cartin laid the cornerstones for victory, easing Derry's relegation worries and compounding those of Roscommon.
The hosts took full advantage of the breeze at their backs to run in 1-10 to 0-7 to the good at half-time. Seven Derry men found their scores as Collie McGurk's side quickly got over a 10-point defeat against Wicklow last time out.
Ciaran Steele with two points and Alan Grant with three impressed for the Oak Leafers, while Kelly got his goal as early as the third minute.
McCloskey's goal came in the 68th minute before Cartin found the net with a bullet effort with the game in injury time.

Wicklow 1-18 Down 0-11
A year on from losing by 13 points to Down in the corresponding league fixture and being condemned to a relegation play-off, Wicklow's reversal of fortune has been punctuated with an 10-point victory and a place in the league final.
Down took an early lead only for Wicklow to reply with six unanswered points to firmly take control, including an Andy O'Brien effort off his knees that would have made Brian Corcoran proud.
Wicklow went in at half-time leading by double scores, 10 points to five.
Down goalkeeper Stephen Keith pulled off two brilliant saves to deny Christy Moorehouse and Eoin McCormack from 14 metres.
Andy O'Brien converted two magnificent frees in the second half from his own 45, one mere yards from the sideline.
Down's Eoghan Sands saw red for swinging his hurl across Eugene Dunne.
McCormack finally got his goal in the closing moments.

Kildare 2-17 Carlow 1-20
Carlow's chances of reaching the Division 2A final are in their own hands heading into the final round of games after Martin Kavanagh snatched a draw from a 65 with the last strike of the game.
Kildare knew that only a win would do to prolong their hopes of making a league final and they led for most of the way.
But Carlow turned the game in their favour late on when a Craig Wall goal was followed by a point to put them one ahead going into stoppage time.
The home side came back and long-range efforts from David Reidy and substitute Richie Ryan looked to have won the game before Kavanagh held his nerve right at the death.
Joe Quaid's side showed great intensity early on and went 1-4 to 0-4 ahead when Paul Divilly's shot was deflected into the net by Carlow's Richard Coady.
A Reidy penalty - Divilly had been fouled - had put Kildare 2-7 to 0-11 ahead at half time.
