Limerick's Barry Murphy and Tipperary's Jason Forde scored 4-5 between them as the competition's favourites bossed from start to finish.

The game was effectively over at half-time as Murphy's and Forde's first goals had Gary Kirby's side 2-10 to 0-6 ahead.

The writing was on the wall for UCC when Murphy nipped in for the game's first goal on three minutes, rounding Sean O'Donoghue after taking Tony Kelly's pass, before batting past Jack Barry.

UL's second goal arrived just after the quarter-hour mark after excellent build-up play by Kevin O'Brien and Ian Galvin left Forde with an easy finish into an unguarded net.

Kelly was flying in the middle and an outrageous piece of skill led to UL's third goal early in the second half - Forde firing low past Barry after Murphy was fouled.

With a 3-15 to 0-6 lead going into the final 10 minutes, Murphy then netted his second goal of the game from a penalty to seal the comprehensive victory.
