Kilkenny eased themselves into the last four of the Leinster U-20 hurling championship with a comfortable win over Laois.

DJ Carey's side easily saw off the challenge of a committed but limited home side in O'Moore Park, and will now meet Galway on July 3.

Laois started brightly but Kilkenny looked clinical as Eoin O'Shea and Niall Brassil put the Cats ahead. Brassil then added a free before a long-range effort from Pádraig Delaney got Laois up and running.

Eoin Cody and Eoin Gaughan traded scores before the first goal of the game, as James Bergin struck for Kilkenny with a smart finish. Laois appeared to have steadied the ship but Kilkenny struck for their second.

Adrian Mullen was set up 18 yards out and he made no mistake with a powerful shot to make it 2-5 to 0-4. Laois put in plenty of effort but lacked a killer touch as Kilkenny led by 2-8 to 0-6 at half-time.

Laois opened the scoring for the second half with a point from Diarmuid Conway, but Mullen's second goal in the 46th minute effectively ended the game as a contest. To hammer home their superiority, Kilkenny added two goals in the space of a minute from Seán Ryan and Stephen Donnelly.
