Limerick native Cathal Mullane clocked up the impressive total of 2-8 for the Longford senior hurlers in a deserved victory over Louth in the Kehoe Cup Round 1 game at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Saturday.

Longford led by 2-6 to 0-6 at the break and made a great start to the second-half with a well-taken goal from Reuben Murray. The visitors did close the gap to four points at one stage with goals from Gerard Smyth (free) and Shane Maguire
