Bray Emmets dethroned champions Glenealy to win their fifth Wicklow SHC title at Aughrim yesterday.

Behind by ten points at half-time, Glenealy had a bright start to the second half, scoring 1-2 in the opening minutes, but too many of their players failed to click on the day.

Bray had the wind in their sails in the first half and they capitalised on the advantage as they raced into a 1-12 to 0-5 lead at the break.

And it was corner-forward and sharp-shooter Christy Moorehouse who pointed the way as he drilled seven over the bar, four from frees, in the half.

He had a magnificent accomplice in his number 15, Michael Boland, who scored 0-3. Glenealy, however, were flying on one wing, with midfielder Jonathan O'Neill Senior. He hit four points from frees, but he was uncharacteristically wide of the mark with two other efforts.

In injury-time, Bray wing-forward Pádraig Doyle blasted to the net from a narrow angle on the right to give his team a nine-point cushion to face the breeze in the second half.

After the initial second-half surge by Glenealy, Bray again took the game by the scruff of the neck as Moorehouse continued to shoot the points before he was red-carded in the 55th minute.
