Brian Molloy was Maynooth University's hero as he scored 3-12 in this 11-point victory.

Maynooth started dreadfully, conceding a Paul Mathews goal on 60 seconds, but Molloy's frees dragged them into the game before a David Burke goal put them ahead. In-form Molloy scored two more goals and by half-time they led by 3-10 to 1-6.

Louth began the second half well as Seaghan Connelly found the net from a goalmouth scramble, but thoughts of a comeback were extinguished when Molloy scored his third goal direct from a free to put 13 points between the sides.

Louth scored a late consolation goal through Paddy McCormack but this was Maynooth's day.
