Meegan leads Monaghan fightback against Roscommon
A RESILIENT Monaghan staged an impressive rally to come from four points behind at half-time to win this well-contested clash in Castleblayney.
The first half was a close affair with the sides level on five occasions before Rossies forward Jerry Fallon finished strongly to register the only goal of the game, to leave the visitors leading 1-8 to 0-7 at the interval.
The Farney men started the second half with renewed purpose and by the 47th minute they had wiped out that deficit with five well-taken points.
Roscommon equalised through Jerry Fallon and an exchange of points between Ronan Meegan and Fallon left the sides level again.
In the closing stages it was Monaghan who dictated matters with four unanswered points to claim the win.
