McNaughton has field day over Garden
Antrim 0-21 Wicklow 0-13
Antrim brushed aside Wicklow to get their campaign off to a winning start, with 14 points from man of the match James McNaughton proving crucial at Abbottstown yesterday.
Wicklow were more than a match for the Saffrons in the opening half and Seanie Gemaine and Seamus O'Cranlie hit six points between them, but Antrim improved after the restart to take control.
A free from Padraic O'Duill brought Wicklow level with the opening score of the second-half, but it was their last score for 15 minutes.
Antrim upped their intensity and opened a six-point lead, with McNaughton, Kevin Rice, Simon McCrory and Conor McCann all impressing.
Wicklow struggled with the Antrim attack, but remained in the contest midway through the second-half. However, a run of four unanswered points towards the end of the contest from McNaughton, Eamon Smyth, Joe Maskey and Sean Duffin stretched the Antrim lead to effectively end the Wicklow challenge.
