McNamara leads by example for Limerick
Limerick 0-18 Waterford1-10 Munster MHC Play-off
Leo O'Connor's Limerick showed the character of champions to rally from six points down against Waterford in last night's clash in Semple Stadium.
The gritty Shannonsiders hit nine points without reply in a bumper spell before and after half-time to overturn a 1-7 to 0-4 deficit at Semple Stadium.
Limerick's win, inspired by the scoring prowess of Peter Casey and goalkeeper Eoghan McNamara, sets up a semi-final clash with quarter-final conquerors Cork on July 1.
For Waterford, it was heartbreak against Limerick again, following Munster final defeats in 2013 and 2014.
But as Limerick march on, revenge could be a dish best served cold as they will now have home advantage at the Gaelic Grounds for the repeat meeting against the Rebels.
Aaron O'Sullivan's 21st-minute goal helped Waterford to establish that six-point advantage but after Calum Lyons pointed five minutes before the interval, the losers went 26 minutes of playing time without a score.
Limerick claimed the last three points of the first and resumed with six more on the spin, before Jack Prendergast pointed a free for Waterford, who had goalkeeper Billy Nolan in excellent form.
McNamara was unerring with those five points and he also denied Eddie Meaney with a vital save.
