Offaly hurling boss Kevin Martin has shaken up his backroom team as the Faithful County look to turn their season around after a poor start.

Martin has introduced Ann Marie Kennedy as sports psychologist while former Olympian Dave Matthews, who ran the 800m at both the 1996 and 2000 games, has come in to head up the squad's fitness programme, according to the 'Midland Tribune'.

The highly-regarded Kennedy has worked with Jim Gavin's Dublin footballers as well as with Ireland's cricket and cycling teams while Matthews, who previously worked with the Cork senior hurlers, takes over from David Hare.

The pair join Declan Fanning and Damian Fox.

Offaly have yet to win a game in the league and face Carlow in Dr Cullen Park on Sunday.

They were relegated from the Liam MacCarthy competition last year and start their Joe McDonagh Cup campaign at home to Laois on the weekend of May 11-12.
