Leinster GAA have opted not to give Dublin a bye into the semi-finals of their 2020 provincial football championship.

The matter came under consideration in recent weeks when the prospect of giving the champions in any year an automatic semi-final place was discussed.

But a Leinster Council meeting last night opted to retain the status quo where the champions will be among the four semi-finalists from the previous year to get a bye into the quarter-finals.

However, Leinster have decided to introduce a semi-final draw which will be made on the Sunday night that the quarter-final winners are known.

As a result, semi-finalists won't know if they are on Dublin's side of the draw until two weeks out from that game.
