Late Murphy point sees Banner edge out Cork
Clare 0-18 Cork 2-11
Clare reached the Munster MHC final in dramatic fashion at Cusack Park, where they had one point to spare over Cork.
Cormac Murphy was the hero of the hour when he fired over the winning score in the fourth minute of injury time.
The hosts had the better of the opening-half exchanges, enjoying a six-point lead at the break (0-12 to 0-6).
Full-forward Conner Hegarty opened their account with a fine point in the third minute.
But Cork struck back and with scores by Paul O'Riordan, Darragh Flynn and Ethan Tuohy, they were soon in the ascendancy. However, a well-drilled Banner outfit hit four unanswered points by the mid point of the half to lead by 0-5 to 0-3.
They kicked on in the second quarter and outscored their opponents by seven points to three, with Diarmaid Cahill producing some wonderful scores.
Clare stretched their lead to seven in the second period but Cork struck back with two goals inside a minute from Darragh Flynn. A further Cork point by Lee Mulroy Quilligan levelled matters before Jack Cahalane split the posts to give his side the lead.
Sean Ronan scored an audacious point to restore parity before Murphy popped up in injury time.
