Lahart leads the way as St. Kieran's storm to final
St Kieran's Col 1-18 Good Counsel 0-5
All-Ireland champions St Kieran's College dominated from start to finish as they roared past Good Counsel to set up a decider against St Peter's College of Wexford.
Good Counsel, for all their industry, were no match for the Leinster League champions in Thomastown on Saturday, as the Kilkenny boys booked a place in next weekend's decider.
Backed by a strong wind, free-taker Ray Lahart, making his first start, helped himself to 10 points from frees to lead the Kieran's charge.
The Counsel were pinned in their own half, and were rarely able to break upfield. By the time they had their first point, from a free by Darragh Joyce in the 24th, minute Kieran's had 10 scores on the board.
The Counsel snatched a second point through Bob Whitty almost immediately, but at half-time were 0-14 to 0-2 behind.
The Counsel pointed first in the new half through Joyce, and Whitty sent a vicious shot whistling across the face of goal, but after Liam Blanchfield set up Sean Morrissey for the winners' next score in the 35th minute, normal service was resumed.
St Kieran's dominated again with Jason Cleere, Richie Leahy, Jason Byrne, Sean Morrissey, Lahart and Tadhg O'Dwyer all in top form.
