Laois hurling boss Eddie Brennan has been handed a significant boost before next month's Joe McDonagh Cup commences with Ross King returning to the fold.

King opted out of the Laois squad last autumn after receiving a nasty facial injury in Rathdowney-Errill's county SHC final defeat to Camross last September.

Last year's captain sat out the entire league campaign but he has answered Brennan's urgings to return and was back training with the full panel last Sunday in what is a huge addition to their attacking options for the summer.

The O'Moore men begin their Joe McDonagh Cup campaign away to neighbours Offaly on May 11/12.

Laois begin their campaign away to Offaly on May 11 in O'Connor Park, in a tie that could decide who makes the McDonagh final.
