Despite the return of forward, JM Sheridan, an experimental Fingal side suffered their second defeat of the Kehoe Cup campaign in Maynooth yesterday.

Fingal were always playing catch up from the time Kildare's Niall Kenny had netted the first of his three goals.

The home side created chances early on, but were guilty of some poor shooting in front of goal. Brian Molloy found the net on 12 minutes. Fingal were four points in arrears at the break, 2-7 to 0-9.

However, Maynooth were to find the back of the net straight after the restart, through Cian Forde, before Sheridan landed a free.

Fingal would have to wait until the 69th minute for their next score. But Maynooth put the game to bed with a series of goals.

Ten minutes into the second half, Maynooth midfielder John Bellew released Kenny for his second goal.

Maynooth piled on the agony for the visitors with further goals from Paul Kinsella, David Burke and Kenny.

Scorers - Maynooth Uni: N Kenny 3-0, B Molloy 1-7(4f, 1 '65) C Forde 1-2, P Kinsella 1-4(1 '65), D Burke 1-1. Fingal: JM Sheridan 0-7 (4f), P Sheridan 0-3(3f), P Graves 0-1(sl).
