IT Carlow can look forward to a home quarter-final after recording their third win of the campaign.

John Walsh opened the scoring with a point but it was the Martin Kavanagh show in the first half, with the Carlow ace hitting 1-6 before his half-time substitution.

Trinity were awarded a penalty when Sean O'Connor was taken down by Enda Rowland, but Fionn O'Riain Broin's effort hit the post.

The same player pointed afterwards, but points from Jack Fagan and Mark Russell left the Carlow college with a 1-11 to 0-5 half-time advantage.

The game was already effectively over as a contest when Trinity corner-back Jack O'Neill was dismissed for a second yellow card.

An excellent score from Colin Dunford extended the gap 10 points before Trinity hit two late points .
