Dessie Hutchinson destroyed Lismore with 2-8 from play on Saturday as Ballygunner reached their 23rd county final in 26 seasons.

He has struck 6-19 in four starts for the team seeking seven in a row.

"Every day is Dessie getting better," said 'Gunners boss Darragh O'Sulllivan. "Dessie works hard, he chases back like the rest of the lads. You see the number of hooks and blocks he had today."

The champions led by 10 points at the break after playing against the breeze. Hutchinson hit 2-7 of their 2-13, isolated one-on-one with David Prendergast. Pauric Mahony delivered a dozen points. The Gunners have won their four games by a staggering total of 60 points.

Maurice Shanahan shot six points (five frees) for Lismore as he completed the season with 3-44. A super solo score in the second half couldn't inspire a comeback.

Hutchinson helped himself to 1-3 in the opening 10 minutes, and the score was 2-13 to 1-6 by half-time. Maurice Shanahan was Lismore's only scorer in the second period.

David Prendergast saw red in injury-time for Lismore.
