The biggest cheer of the afternoon was reserved for substitute Jack Guiney, who ended a two-year absence from the inter-county scene with 1-1 as Wexford coasted to victory over Kerry at Innovate Wexford Park yesterday.

Guiney, a 47th-minute substitute silenced the doubters with a splendidly taken goal to mark his return. While he still has a way to go before he claims a starting spot, he certainly will give manager Davy Fitzgerald serious options for the rest of the League campaign.

Fitzgerald was clearly happy to have the Rathnure attacker back in the fold, saying: "Jack has worked hard with us over the last number of months. While he has still some way to go, he is working hard to get there."

With two victories under their belt and promotion in their own hands, Fitzgerald was not overly unhappy going in level at 0-7 at half-time playing into the wind.

"We created four goal chances but took none of them. We addressed that problem at half-time," he added.

Two goals in a minute from Harry Kehoe and Diarmuid O'Keefe duly set up a comfortable second half.
