Roscommon eased their way to a comfortable victory against Longford after a strong second-half showing at a damp Dr Hyde Park.

Once again, their talisman Daniel Glynn, from county champions Padraig Pearses, came up trumps with a tally of 13 points.

The home side eked out a 1-10 to 1-7 advantage at the interval.

They surged into the lead when Eamon Flanagan fastened on to John Murray's pass from the left wing to take possession around Longford goalkeeper Conor Gallagher and fire to the empty net inside two minutes.

However, Longford, led by full-forward Cathal Mullane, kept in touch and when the Killeedy marksman fired to the net at the second attempt after 15 minutes, the visitors were right back in the game.

Mullane and PJ Masterson kept the scoreboard ticking over for Longford to pare the deficit back to a point but a couple of Glynn placed balls (a '65' and a free) gave Roscommon a three-point lead going into the interval.

The teams swapped points in the early stages of the second half but Roscommon upped the ante, thanks mainly to Glynn's accuracy, to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
