Glenmore crowned kings of clubs
Glenmore 0-23 Lusmagh 0-13
Powered by two of Kilkenny’s All-Ireland senior hurling winners, Glenmore overcame a stubborn resistance from Offaly intermediate champions Lusmagh to land the Leinster club junior hurling title in Tullamore on Saturday.
Eoin Murphy and Ger Aylward were to the fore as they pucked 13 points between them for the Kilkenny junior champions as they pulled
away in the second half having been 0-10 to 0-6 ahead at half-time.
Lusmagh were always playing catch-up and their first point from play didn’t arrive until eight minutes from time.
Glenmore got the dream start with two points inside the opening minute and they had four points on the board before the Offaly men got off the mark.
Last year’s Kilkenny minor goalkeeper Shane Murphy started to dominate in midfield and his superb solo effort nine minutes from time put his side 0-17 to 0-10 in front.
Glenmore added five points in the closing six minutes with Murphy landing the last score to give his team a 10-point cushion.
