Naomh Moninne claimed their second Louth hurling title in three years in Dunleer yesterday. In doing so, the Dundalk side inflicted a third Paddy Kelly final defeat in a row on St Fechins.

Moninne full-forward Odhran Loughran rounded his man to give the winning side the perfect start with the game's only goal on the sixth minute.

Well aided by man of the match, midfielder Darren O'Hanrahan, county sharpshooter Darren Geoghegan was in excellent form with nine of his side's total.

Fechins showed their resilience and fought back into the game through free-taking duo John Crosbie and Paddy Lynch landing ten points between them.

Geoghegan relentlessly traded placed balls to make it point for point for the majority and he duly ended the half to make it 1-6 to 0-9 at the interval.

The Termonfeckin outfit will rue three missed goal chances in the second period as Moninne held their nerve with wing-forward Graham Harrington notching a superb brace to hand them the initiative.

Crosbie scored three second-half points in vain as Geoghegan closed the game out with his only score from play.

SCORERS - Naomh Moninne: R Geoghegan 0-9 (8f); O Loughran 1-0; G Harrington 0-3; F Joyce 0-1. St Fechins: J Crosbie 0-6 (5f); P Lynch 0-3 (2f, 65'); R Grace 0-2; S Hackett (f), S Conneely, P Matthews 0-1 each.
