Fresh faces fire Donegal to convincing win in Letterkenny
New-look Donegal reeled off 13 points in a row on their way to a 2-23 to 1-14 win over Louth in Letterkenny.
First-half goals by Cathal Doherty and Kevin Campbell sent Donegal on their way to victory on their return to Division 3A.
Donegal got their first goal after six minutes when debutant Doherty, after taking a pass by Lee Henderson, drove low past advancing Louth goalkeeper Shane Nolan.
Donegal also gave first starts to Armagh native and 2016 Nicky Rackard All-Star Declan Coulter and Tipperary native Davin Flynn, both of whom are now working and living in Donegal.
They contributed nine points between them and Coulter landed a magnificent point on 11 minutes.
Donegal struck gold again in the 24th minute as Flynn's great run provided the assist for Campbell, who hammered home in style.
Donegal led by a point at half-time but Louth took over the lead when Seaghan Connolly got in for a goal.
Henderson drilled over in the 54th minute to kick-start a surge from Donegal that roared them to victory.
Meanwhile, Brian McGuigan's hat-trick fired Monaghan to a 3-15 to 1-11 win against Tyrone in Omagh.
McGuigan's opening goal had the Farney 1-6 to 0-5 ahead at half-time. Damien Casey netted for Tyrone, but McGuigan's hat-trick helped Monaghan to a 10-point success.
In Division 3B, Longford overpowered Fermanagh 2-13 to 0-7 yesterday and on Saturday, a last-minute goal by former Antrim player Liam Watson gave Warwickshire a 3-9 to 3-8 win over Sligo.
