Donegal boss Ardal McDermott hailed deadly Davin Flynn after the Tipperary native fired the north-west side to glory in Saturday's poorly-attended final at Celtic Park.

Flynn, a Roscrea man now based in Donegal, scored 2-8 from play as Donegal dominated their way to the title - and, with it, promotion to Division 2B.

"Players are man-marking Davin, but some of the scores he's getting, no-one could mark him," McDermott remarked. "Davin is a fantastic asset."

Stephen Gillespie netted a third Donegal goal just before the break, Ronan McDermott later adding a fourth. The Red Hands, who had Mike O'Gorman sent off in the 50th minute, did get a goal from Damien Casey, who scored 1-6.

McDermott added: "There is quality in that team and there is more to come."
