A fine second-half display from Cork was required as they eventually pulled clear of Waterford at Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday evening.

Waterford were already eliminated prior to the game, but responded well after four early Darragh Flynn points.

Reuben Halloran (two) and Johnny Burke had Waterford level, before Burke batted to the net to leave it level at half-time (0-10 to 1-7).

Luke Horgan and O'Riordan helped Cork to open up a lead early in the second-half and by the 44th minute it was 0-16 to 1-8 for the Rebels.

Halloran cut the gap to four, before two from Flynn looked to have pushed Cork into an unassailable lead. However, Halloran had another brace and Cathrach Daly cut the gap to three. A goal never came for Waterford, though, and Ethan Twomey put Cork ahead again.

O'Neill keeps Treaty in running

Limerick 0-16 Clare 0-13

Limerick's hopes of staying in the competition received a big boost after they beat Clare at the LIT Gaelic Grounds.

The Treaty hit the first three points before Clare opened their account through Cormac Murphy. Cathal O'Neill's fine effort from play restored Limerick's three-point advantage and it was soon at four when he struck again.

The home side held that lead until Clare rallied through a Kevin Smyth free and efforts from Shane Meehan and Murphy to leave it 0-7 to 0-6 in Limerick's favour at the break.

Points from Meehan and Smyth put Clare in front for the first time after the restart.

This time it was Limerick's turn to rally and they did so with the next eight points. O'Neill sent over three frees, while Adam Murrihy landed two outstanding efforts as they held on for victory.
