Limerick maintained their 100pc record in the Munster Senior Hurling League by easing to victory over Kerry at the Gaelic Grounds.

John Kiely's side followed up an impressive performance against Cork in the first round with another fine display against a Kerry team that improved as the game went on.

From the moment that Seamus Flanagan buried the first of his goals on nine minutes the result of this contest was never in doubt.

A fine finish from Barry Nash and Flanagan's second goal of the game helped Limerick to a 3-11 to 1-3 lead at the interval.

Kerry were much improved in the second-half, with Padraig Boyle leading the charge, but were unable to claw back such a big margin.

Flanagan got the scoring underway inside the first minute, but Boyle soon had Kerry level. Limerick then racked with 1-5 without reply to set up the victory.

An excellent Declan Hannon point put Limerick in front again. Aaron Gillane then followed up with a free, before Flanagan took advantage of a mistake in the Kerry defence to fire in the first goal.

Points from Gillane, Barry Nash and Andrew La Touche Cosgrave then had Limerick 1-6 to 0-1 ahead with 13 minutes on the clock.

Limerick continued to control proceedings and two goals in the space of a minute from Nash and Flanagan put them into a commanding advantage at the break.

Kerry upped their game considerably in the second-half, with Boyle adding 1-7 to his scoring total, his goal coming from a free that Richie English knocked into his own net.

There was one concern for Kiely, with his captain Hannon having to leave the field injured. Limerick now play Clare in the final on Sunday at the Gaelic Ground.
