Warwickshire practically assured themselves of a place in the final by holding out against a resurgent Monaghan in this entertaining contest in Páirc na hÉireann on Saturday.

The Exiles led at half-time by 2-8 to 1-6, after the sides had been level at 1-1 apiece on 12 minutes.

Warwickshire took a firmer foothold in the third quarter and with 10 minutes of normal time remaining they had opened up a six-point lead, 2-15 to 2-9.

Monaghan battled back to outscore the home side by 1-4 to 0-2 in the closing stages, but just could not close the gap and the one-point defeat ends their interest in the latter stages of Division 3A.
