Durnin's double enough for Kiltale to retain crown
Kiltale 2-15 Kildalkey 0-12
Peter Durnin struck for both goals as champions Kiltale retained their crown at Páirc Tailteann yesterday.
In what proved a disappointing encounter, Durnin's opening goal on 20 minutes gave the holders a lead they never relinquished.
The sides were level on four occasions in the opening half before Kiltale took a grip on proceedings following that Durnin goal.
He added two further points before the end of the half as his side led 1-8 to 0-6 at the break.
Kildalkey reduced the deficit with the opening two points of the second half from Mark Healy but they were unable to make further impression on the Kiltale lead.
With Jack Regan finding the range, Kiltale hit back with four successive points and they eventually went eight clear before wrapping up their sixth Jubilee Cup with the second goal.
That strike extended their lead to 2-14 to 0-9 and put the result beyond doubt.
Kiltale had wing-back Stephen Donoghue sent off after a second yellow card in the 56th minute but they had the match sewn up at that stage.
