Dublin captain Liam Rushe was given a taste of his own medicine after trolling Tipperary counterpart Seamus Callanan over the weekend.

During Tipp’s league loss to Clare on Sunday, Callanan surprisingly missed the target with three first-half frees and Rushe decided to take to Twitter to revel at the former’s expense.

He posted: “Seamie Callinan must have an eye on the handicap bet. He could have kicked those frees over.”

The Banner rallied in the second half to earn a 2-13 to 0-18 victory to seal a place in the Division One semi final and the pulsating tie wasn’t long over when Rushe was responded to in kind.

Cathal Barrett, Callanan’s Premier County colleague, gave ‘keyboard warrior’ Rushe what for, and the Dubliner hasn’t been heard from since.

“You've had your own eyes on his heals for long enough.”
