DCU/St Pat's came from behind at half-time to beat Longford at Emmet Park.

Longford started brightly, with Cathal Mullane hitting over two frees, while Jamie Byrne was accurate from dead balls for the students in the opening exchanges.

The first quarter was tight but Longford got a goal in the 16th minute through Alan Sorohan to put his side ahead by two.

Mullane (free) put three between the sides in the 21st minute but a goal from Murtha Doyle in the 23rd drew the students level.

Karl Murray and Shane O'Brien edged Longford ahead by two points in the 30th minute and Mullane was unfortunate in stoppage time to see his effort come off the butt of an upright.

Another Mullane free in the 40th minute put three between the sides but DCU were level six minutes later and in the 48th minute they got an important second goal through Jack Doyle and they never relinquished their lead.
