Mark Kehoe was hero of the hour on Saturday as UCC won their 39th title at Waterford IT.
The Tipperary panellist was substituted twice during their extra-time semi-final win over DCU.
"I got a black eye. I hit into Colm Roche when there was high ball coming down," he said.
On this occasion Kehoe roasted the Mary Immaculate College defence in a man-of-the-match display, having 1-4 to his name by the 42nd minute.
His eighth-minute goal was the standout moment of a one-sided final. He picked up the ball close to the sideline and weaved around four defenders before finishing under Eoghan Cahill.
Mary Immaculate led briefly through a Michael O'Loughlin point after 17 seconds, but they couldn't find a way through spare defender Paddy O'Loughlin and Chris O'Leary in the UCC half-back line and Tom Kingston's men enjoyed a 1-12 to 0-7 half-time lead.
Aaron Gillane and sub Colin English narrowed the gap to six, but that was as close as Mary's got.
UCC killed off any hopes of a comeback. On 40 minutes, Conor Browne found the bottom corner of net to secure a first Sigerson and Fitzgibbon double since 1988.
The next challenge for Kehoe is to break into the Tipperary first team.
