Donegal avoided the drop to Division 3A at Celtic Park yesterday. First-half goals from Ciaran Mathewson and Jack O’Loughlin gave them a solid platform, and they were never behind.

Mathewson finished to the net for the first score of the game, and Tyrone were chasing it from there to the finish. Tyrone responded with scores from Conor Grugan and Padraig McHugh, but Donegal led comfortably by 2-8 to 0-7 at the interval.

Tyrone, hit back early in the second half. Grogan swept home a goal, and won the penalty that skipper Casey smashed to the net to level the scores at 2-9 each.

Donegal forged ahead again, but the Red Hands continued to perform with passion, and narrowed the gap to a point going into the final five minutes, but Donegal salvaged their status with a late volley of scores.
