Cian O'Calaghan expects Cuala team-mate Paul Schutte to be 100pc fit for the All-Ireland club SHC final showdown with Clare champions Ballyea on St Patrick's Day, writes Michael Verney.
Schutte missed the semi-final defeat of Slaughtneil with a broken finger but his injury nightmare looks set to come to an end.
"Paul will be back for Patrick's Day. It's really good to have him back," O'Callaghan said.
O'Callaghan also slammed the GAA calendar, which forced him to relinquish UCD captaincy and miss out on the latter stages of the independent.ie Fitzgibbon Cup owing to Cuala's progress.
"It's crazy, it's absolutely bonkers and everybody can see that," he said. "This is my last year in UCD and I wasn't able to play Fitzgibbon Cup because it clashed. It just seems crazy that you can't play for the teams that you should be playing for.
"Everybody knows that it's flawed, and they are addressing it at the moment. But it really does have to be looked at in closer detail."
