Corvan puts Orchard in control
Armagh 2-17 Wicklow 2-15
Armagh were worthy winners and only a couple of late goals put a gloss on the result for Wicklow.
A strong opening half laid the foundation for their victory at Aughrim.
Armagh got a dream start in the opening ten minutes when they scored 2-3.
A long free dropped into the Wicklow square and John Corvan pulled the ball into the net.
Three points from play were followed by a Conor Corvan goal when he drifted into space and buried the ball in the net.
A defensive switch shored up the Wicklow rearguard but Armagh could create the greater scoring chances.
Conor Corvan got another two points from play while Shea Gaffney and Eoin McGuinness scored a couple of good points each.
Diarmuid Masterson's five frees kept Wicklow in the match in the first half, but he and Armagh's Eoin McGuinness were both shown straight red cards just before half-time, when Armagh led 2-9 to 0-6.
Armagh started the second half well and looked like they would win by a big margin, but Wicklow rallied.
Indeed, Armagh might worry about how they let Wicklow reduce the deficit by so much when they were 12 points up after 46 minutes.
