Cork dual player Damien Cahalane last night confirmed that he will pledge his services to the Rebel hurlers next year.

The news will come as another blow to hurling boss Jimmy Barry-Murphy as the Castlehaven footballer follows in the footsteps of Aidan Walsh in choosing the small ball game over inter-county football.

Eoin Cadogan has indicated that he too will forego his dual career as he has thrown in his lot with Brian Cuthbert's football panel, but the Rebels boss admits that he was "disappointed" with Cahalane's decision before adding that the door will not be closed should he decide to return to the fold.

"It's a tough decision for any player to make, and while we are disappointed, Damien is always welcome to return to football in the future," said Cuthbert.
